More recently, the Colombian authorities have also had to combat violence perpetrated by right-wing paramilitaries along with attempting to thwart narcotics production and trafficking. We believe that tentative peace negotiations between the FARC-EP – the largest of Colombia’s Marxist guerrilla groups – and the government are now occurring.
